Bill Whittle, of “Eat The Rich” fame, offers some great examples of reality vs. theory.
One of the things that separates how Liberal/Progressives think and how Conservatives think is how the world should be vs. how the world is.

An excellent article written by Michael Barone compares some of the distant past’s “beliefs” with today’s leftist religion. Click here.
The last two paragraphs:
In recent years, we have seen how negative to 2 percent growth hurts many, many people, as compared to what happens with 3 to 7 percent growth. So we’re much less willing to adopt policies that will slow down growth not just for a few years but for the indefinite future.
Media, university and corporate elites still profess belief in global warming alarmism, but moves toward policies limiting carbon emissions have fizzled out, here and abroad.

One of the strongest arguments for fighting the War against Islamic Terrorism is looking back at history at how France, Britain and most of Europe ignored Hitler’s actual speeches, his nation’s re-armament and aggression expanding the boundaries of Germany. If they had just listened to what Hitler said he would do, they could have avoided World War II. There are countless books written about it. Thomas Sowell’s latest book Intellectuals & Society has a great chapter detailing that era.
And it’s no different today. Listen and read what Osama bin Laden, or Ayman al-Zawahiri have said, and you’ll know their aim is to defeat our way of life, and create a world dominated by Islam and Sharia Law.
So here’s The Senate’s sole (admitted) Socialist, using the same argument to sell Global Warming. Sanders equates watching Hitler’s rise to power with the supposed “settled science” and the claims of Al Gore and the 2500 scientists, blah blah blah.
And the irony is that Bernie (as he did with Saddam Hussein) would have done exactly the same as Neville Chamberlain did. Appeased Hitler while waiving the Munich Agreement piece of paper claiming “Peace In Our Time.”
Give me a break.
This, like so many other examples, clarifies the philosophical divide between how Liberals and Conservatives see the world and their different perceptions of human nature. That subject is also amply described in Sowell’s latest.
That the BBC is beginning to question Climate Change is a very very encouraging sign. It should only take NBC, CBS, ABC, NPR, MSNBC, NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times …. about 5 years to follow suit.
Lord Monckton: Rajendra Pachauri will be jailed.
It’ll certainly help the Climategate investigation if Penn State does an honest job researching Michael Mann’s “research.” Of course, then it will be more interesting to see if the MSM actually reports it. Climategate is just one more example of what should be called Mediagate.

Anthropogenic climate change skeptics are just like Galileo’s Church was on the Settled Science of 1610
It really is the same thing. Just imagine how Galileo‘s discovery, that the earth revolved around the sun, was feared by the Church in 1610 (a mere 400 years ago).
There are probably a few million people who earn their living promoting AGW. What are they going to do if it turns out to be the biggest hoax in our lifetime? My goodness, Algore could lose tens of millions of his investments if it turned out that any climate change is not caused by the air we all exhale.

This is a conglomeration of various speeches. Much of it believable.
Several UKIP MEPs speak out against the sham of ‘man-made global warming’, carbon taxes and global pillage and impoverishment.
The theory of ‘man-made global warming’ has been disproven over and over again by science — study after study. There is absolutely no proof that man-made CO2 heats up the atmosphere. The polar ice caps are at their normal size. No polar bears or penguins are losing their habitats or drowning (in fact, these animals are natural born swimmers….). The world has been cooling since 2001. The recent scandal of CLIMATEGATE was the last nail in the coffin of whatever scientific credibility the theory still had — since it proved the main authors of the IPCC reports systematically engaged in data fudging and manipulation to prove their nonsensical theory.

As we plough headlong into the ‘ClimateGate’ scandal let’s remind ourselves what is really at stake here:
LET COOLER HEADS PREVAIL
by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley and Paul Maynard
The CII’s latest report, Coping with Climate Change: Risks and Opportunities for Insurers, says we are changing the climate, the science is settled, and there is overwhelming evidence for anthropogenic “global warming” caused by rising atmospheric CO2 concentration (CII, 2009).
The worldwide obsession with CO2 as the chief driver of climate is scientifically unfounded: yet Western governments are outbidding one another to make drastic cuts in carbon emissions, and CO2 is demonized as a dangerous pollutant. James Hansen, an activist who nominally works for NASA, decries railway coal-trucks as “death wagons”, incites civil disobedience against power stations, and predicts – absurdly – that sea level will rise 246 feet (Hansen, 2009).
You gotta wonder how long the MSM will be able to get away with ignoring the fallout from ClimateGate and the ever increasing number of real scientists who will now be emboldened to begin speaking out.
The WSJ’s Dan Henniger wrote about ClimateGate being about more than just a political scandal.
Surely there must have been serious men and women in the hard sciences who at some point worried that their colleagues in the global warming movement were putting at risk the credibility of everyone in science.
I don’t think most scientists appreciate what has hit them. This isn’t only about the credibility of global warming. For years, global warming and its advocates have been the public face of hard science.
In a great summary, Power Line posts 15 bullet points of simple to understand facts:
In the wake of Climategate, common sense deniers like to say that there is lots of other evidence for global warming, in addition to that which has been debunked by the East Anglia whistleblower. Actually, however, the scientific evidence for AGW is remarkably weak. At Icecap, Lee Gerhard, geologist and reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, sums up the key scientific evidence with admirable brevity:
Lord Monckton‘s credibility seems to be on the rise aa more and more knowledgeable people are speaking out against the mass hysteria.
I remember quite well being really concerned that humans were destroying the earth in 1975. Oh my god, the media was full of articles about “The Population Explosion,” disappearing animal species, global cooling and of course other end of the world scenarios – all caused by us terrible humans.
Now, over 35 years later … I believe it’s all faith based. Here’s an example of my earlier indoctrination.
“The Cooling World” – by Peter Gwynne
April 28, 1975 Newsweek
There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production – with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now. The regions destined to feel its impact are the great wheat-producing lands of Canada and the U.S.S.R. in the North, along with a number of marginally self-sufficient tropical areas – parts of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indochina and Indonesia – where the growing season is dependent upon the rains brought by the monsoon.
It’s great to start to see an explanation of warming is not Mann-made.

In a Wall Street Journal article The Totalities of Copenhagen Bret Stephens suggests that global warming alarmists have a
totalitarian impulse. This is not to say that global warming true believers are closet Stalinists. But their intellectual methods are instructively similar.
• Utopianism: In the world as it is, climate alarmists see humanity hurtling toward certain doom. In the world as it might be, humanity has seen the light and changed its patterns of behavior, becoming the green equivalent of the Soviet “new man.” At his disposal are technologies that defy the laws of thermodynamics. The problems now attributed to global warming abate or disappear.
• Anti-humanism: In his 2007 best seller “The World Without Us,” environmentalist Alan Weisman considers what the planet would be like without mankind, and finds it’s no bad thing. The U.N. Population Fund complains in a recent report that “no human is genuinely ‘carbon neutral’”—its latest argument against children. John Holdren, President Obama’s science adviser, cut his teeth in the policy world as an overpopulation obsessive worried about global cooling. But whether warming or cooling, the problem for the climate alarmists, as for other totalitarians, always seems to boil down to the human race itself.
• Intolerance: Why did the scientists at the heart of Climategate go to such lengths to hide or massage the data if truth needs no defense? Why launch campaigns of obstruction and vilification against gadfly Canadian researchers Stephen McIntyre and Ross McKitrick if they were such intellectual laughingstocks? It is the unvarying habit of the totalitarian mind to treat any manner of disagreement as prima facie evidence of bad faith and treason.
It is the desire of the hard left (i.e. almost every Democrat in the Congressional Leadership and our president The One). It’s about control.
Scientists Behaving Badly: A corrupt cabal of global warming alarmists are exposed by a massive document leak.
by Steven F. Hayward
Slowly and mostly unnoticed by the major news media, the air has been going out of the global warming balloon. Global temperatures stopped rising a few years ago, much to the dismay of the climate campaigners. The U.N.’s upcoming Copenhagen conference–which was supposed to yield a binding greenhouse gas emissions reduction treaty as a successor to the failed Kyoto Protocol–collapsed weeks in advance and remains on life support pending Obama’s magical intervention. Cap and trade legislation is stalled on Capitol Hill. Recent opinion polls from Gallup, Pew, Rasmussen, ABC/Washington Post, and other pollsters all find a dramatic decline in public belief in human-caused global warming. The climate campaigners continue to insist this is because they have a “communications” problem, but after Al Gore’s Nobel Prize/Academy Award double play, millions of dollars in paid advertising, and the relentless doom-mongering from the media echo chamber and the political class, this excuse is preposterous. And now the climate campaign is having its Emperor’s New Clothes moment.
Irony is never lost when showing the Left in action. They always act as if they are so tolerant of others and promote diversity. ER, well that would be diversity in anything but thought.

or, here’s another example of the same concept. via Bureaucrash:
Journalist Phelim McAleer (‘Mine Your Own Business’, ‘Not Evil Just Wrong’) asks Prof Stephen Schneider from Stanford University an Inconvenient Question about ‘Climategate’ emails. McAleer is interrupted twice by Prof Schneider’s assistant and UN staff and then told to stop filming by an armed UN security guard.
